I don't know about everyone else but the performance of these video feeds has been really bad. I know that not everyone liked the Silverlight based video streaming from the China Olympics but it was far better without the jerky video quality.. I've tried it out now on 2 different Verizon FiOS connections in NY and DC and 2 Comcast connections and ran into the same problems everywhere... YouTube just doesn't seen ready for this. :-( Perhaps Microsoft made better use of the CDN networks??? <iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=icr0c-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B008NA3HZY&ref=tf_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1<1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&npa=1&f=ifr" style="width:120px;height:240px;" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0">

Just further confirmation -

AT&T U-verse Internet/Landline subscriber here (No TV). I went ahead and tried to log in on the nbc site, and it came back and said "great, you're ready to go!" and about half a second later I got an overlay that said "nope, you're not a subscriber".

I would definitely fall into the category of people who *might* consider paying a one-off fee for something like this. Generally I do not watch TV at all by any method, online or off. I don't own a TV, and 99.9% of the time I really don't care. I went to Atlanta in '96 however, and there are a handful of Olympic sports I might care to watch if I could.

This makes some sense from the standpoint that NBC expects you to pay for their channels if you want to watch their content. All this is doing is exposing how desperately the market wants more options (ala carte cable anyone? This would be cake on the net), but the media companies won't provide it themselves and won't let anyone else have access to the content to provide something competitive.

Incidentally my situation really just blows AT&T's little corporate mind. I get no end of junk mail from them enthusing about how awesome U-Verse TV is and how I could get all three services for $99/mo! That "deal" comes with 3 Mbit internet service, which would certainly be an upgrade from the 12Mbit I'm already getting from them. <iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=icr0c-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B008NA3HZY&ref=tf_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1<1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&npa=1&f=ifr" style="width:120px;height:240px;" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0">
